Substack loves Nazis

A bit of a different post, but I need to talk about it in a longer form than just Notes.

I have seen horrible things on this platform lately: threats of rape, sexual violence, creepy behaviour, the threat (and subsequent making) of deep-fake porn, and there is yet to be a response to any of it.

This is a great platform, but I fear that Substack are cowards who prefer to hide behind “self-moderation” to cover their own ass and not get caught up in political side-taking.

However, Nazi ideology cannot be placed under that umbrella. In fact, none of it can.

Substack uses Ai and could easily find a way to implement Ai moderation on posts and comments. Again, it doesn’t need to take a “political side”, but I’m yet to see anyone say sexual violence is a matter of left and right. I am also yet to see any respectable platform defend the use of Nazi content.

Substack, you have let so many people down and shown how pathetic a platform you are. Instead of implementing polymarkets for crypto-bros, how about you wipe your arse and say “hey, you know what, maybe somethings are just objectively bad and we should do something about it”

I’m sticking around for a little longer in the hopes that this mess is sorted soon, but it’s been great to see creators jumping off this rotten ship, and I hope the platform suffers as a whole for how it’s handled these horrible acts.

Do better.
